The 2007-2008 members of the Buchanan High School Jazz Band "A" took 1st Place overall at the Monterey Next Generation Jazz Festival on April 5, 2008! This prestigeous position has gained them not only national recognition, but it also earned them a spot on the coveted Jimmy Lyons Stage in the Arena, at the 51st Annual Monterey Jazz Festival in September! The festival runs from Sept. 19 - 21, 2008 with the band performing on Sunday, September 21, 2008 at 12:30 p.m. Don't miss this BHS & CUSD history making event. While on their site, click around and read about the 2006-2007 Next Gen winners, and get more info about the festival and how you can support jazz education as well.
